    This research was performed to verify that sandplay therapy is effective in improving the self-esteem and interpersonal relationships of university students who have ADHD symptoms. In order to do this, the Korean version of Conner's Adult ADHD Rating Scale: CAARS-K, Self-Esteem Scale: SES, Relationship Change Scale: RCS were filled by 1,500 students from two universities located in Chungnam province. The 16 students from the upper 20% on the scales who agreed to participate in the experiment were selected and 8 students were assigned in the experimental group and another 8 were in the control group. The period of the whole session was from October to December 2009. Each subject had sandplay therapy session once a week and had a total of 12 sessions. After they finished the 12 sessions they repeated the same scales they had before the first session. The result was statistically processed in SPSS 12.0. The statistical methods which were used to analyze the quantitative result were the Pearson Correlation test and Wilcoxon's Rank Sum-test. To analyze the sandplay process for each subject, every sandplay scene and every single word uttered by subjects were anaylzed based on the Sandplay Categorical Checklist: SCC. From the results, it was determined that the higher scoring students on ADHD symptoms had the lower scores for self-esteem and interpersonal relationship. After they finished all the sandplay sessions they demonstrated that their self-esteem and interpersonal relationships had improved significantly, which meant that sandplay was effective in improving those problems. Furthermore, the qualitative analysis based on SCC also showed that the subjects tried to confront their problems, see their problems from an objective perspective, and be connected to their inner, unconsious energy, although they were reluctant do this in the eary sessions. This strengthened their egos which made it possible for them to have a positive elf-image about them in the relationship with others.
